LPH Seniors Away Day at Enville GC
22 April 2018 10:42 am
Last week I ventured with 10 ROWGC Seniors to the midlands for an Away Day at Enville Golf Club.
We had great fun with a mixture of playing and coaching.
The first day started with bacon rolls and a short game clinic with the main focus being how to use the bounce of the wedge.
We hit the course which was in fantastic condition and the quality of golf matched it. Cecil Wheatstone (the senior of the group!) took the top spot with a magnificent 37 points, it was a pleasure to see.
4th place and Nearest the Pin - Andy Baldwin
3rd place - Peter Jenkins
2nd place - Barry Smith
1st place - Cecil Wheatstone - 37 points
We stayed at the Red Lion and enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal and a couple of drinks, great fun. Happy to say Andy and are undefeated champions on the pool table!!
Day 2 started with a lovely breakfast followed by a putting Q and A in the clubhouse. We then hit the short game area to recap on techniques learnt the previous day and tackled the bunkers. I challenged the group to get out of the bunker with a 6 iron! Well we had a few shouts of 'FORE' to start with, but after 5 minuets it was a site to see, 10 ROWGC seniors flopping the ball out of the bunker with a 6 iron like Seve!
We hit the heathland course to chase down the leader Cecil, who had a 4 shot handicap penalty to uphold!
Nearest the Pin - Cecil Wheatstone
4th Place - Hugh Elliott
3rd place - Scott Thompson
2nd - Steve Martin
1st - Bob Tuttiett
Our club captain scored a impressive 35 points to take the Win on the second day.
We also had a hidden partner competition and Cecil and Bob were drawn together and took that win also, followed closely by Peter and Andy.
I had a great time and I'm sure the group did also. The golf club was a fantastic venue a must play if you haven't already done so. Enville Golf Club
The pub is also a real gem with great food and worth a stay if your in the area - The Red Lion
Until the next time..........
