LPH CALIBRATION STATION FAQs

What is the Calibration Towel?

The Leett Calibration Towel is a putting training aid designed by Oli Leett to help golfers calibrate their setup and build consistent, world-class basics.

The markings on the towel allow you to measure and repeat the key fundamentals of your putting setup, including distance from the ball, stance width, ball position, body alignment and shaft lean at address.

It also includes swing-length references to help calibrate distance control, plus AimPoint calibration.

But simply, it gives you a clear reference point for your putting — so instead of guessing whether your setup is right, you can measure it, calibrate it and repeat it.

Why was the Calibration Towel created?

The Calibration Towel came from a problem I kept seeing in my coaching.

For example, a golfer might have their ball position too far back, causing them to hit down on the ball. I’d move it further forward to improve their strike and help them hit slightly up on the ball.

But when they came back a month later, they’d often gone one of two ways: either they had drifted back into their old setup, or they had taken the change too far and moved the ball too far forward.

They knew they needed to change something, but they had no way of knowing exactly where the correct position was.

That’s when I started calibrating setup — giving golfers measurable reference points for their own world-class basics.

The Calibration Towel was created to make that simple. Once you know your ideal setup, you can measure it, practise it and return to exactly the same positions every time, rather than relying on guesswork.

How does the Calibration Towel help my putting?

The Calibration Towel helps you build world-class basics and strong foundations for your putting.

By regularly calibrating your setup, you can get your ball position, stance, alignment and shaft lean in the right place, helping you produce a better roll, more consistent start line and improved distance control.

The swing-length markings also help you understand how far you hit your putts with different length strokes, while the AimPoint calibration section allows you to recalibrate your reads for different green speeds.

Ultimately, it helps make your putting more measurable, repeatable and consistent — giving you solid foundations to build the rest of your putting game around.

Why is calibration important in putting?

Calibration is important because consistency starts with how you set up.

If you’re setting up differently every day — changing your ball position, stance, alignment or posture — you can’t expect to produce consistent results on the greens.

As humans, we’re constantly changing. You might sleep differently, feel tighter one day or simply fall into old habits without realising it. That’s why regularly returning to your world-class basics is so important.

The Calibration Towel gives you a reference for what’s right for you, allowing you to quickly check and recalibrate your setup before you practise or play.

You’ll also receive a video lesson showing you how to use the towel and establish your own personal calibration points.
